Touching Wisdom

To pronounce wisdom
Is to honour pain
And anguish
The stains of sin
Paying homage to the suffering
And sanctioning their will
Martyrs of a cause
Or victims of world progress and decline
To touch wisdom is to explore everything
To accept right and wrong
The voices of children
Not cast aside
Self-examination and spirit
Drawn from passion and belief

The seeds of compassion and a tree that blossoms
In the fervor of human touch and feeling
When sacrifice is reward
And freedom is the relief
When hunger is abated in a constant storm

The pulpit of scornful retribution
Is not a place for healing
Or platform for the wise
