The darkest corners of my mind,

Nowhere safe to run and hide.

Monsters lurk beneath the bed,

Craziness consumes my head.

People standing in the woods,

Hidden under masks and hoods.

They call my name,

They hum my tune,

A private show just for you.

Every noise a different voice,

Always mumbling the worst.

Safely locked behind our doors,

But still hiding from every noise.

How do they know I'm here?

I'm paranoid, I hit the floor,

Crawling from door to door.

I know they're near,

I grab my knife,

My nightmares and fears have come to life.

Prepared to run,

Prepared to fight,

This imaginary battle will last all night.

Shadows creep down the hall,

You'd bet your life you really saw.

Checking behind you wherever you go,

How do the voices always know?
