Trips Around the Sun

Trips Around the Sun

Every year of life, the wise people say,
Is a trip around the sun.
With joy colored purple, and sadness gray
Each trip unique from every other one.

No one knows how many trips are fair
That’s a mystery from the start.
Most come in alone, some as a pair,
A gift in every beat of your heart.

The learned will say ‘bout their trips ‘round the sun
That all are better shared.
When two come together to live as one
The union’s beyond compare.

You found each other many trips ago
8th grade… so the story’s told.
Your love is eternal, this much we know
Such a joyous thing to behold.

Look at the faces all around you now
Your joy is reflected there.
Our hearts are soaring, the spirits avow
Kirst and Jarred… you are a pair.

For all that matters in this life
Is love and yours is one
That makes us smile, and kiss the sky
For your coming trips ‘round the sun.
