Triumph in Time

Deep direct gaze discerned desolate truth;
she had not discovered love at first sight.
Radiant futures had left in my youth;
If love was my goal, I would have to fight.
Thoughts of the past; experience squandered.
Angst, pain, and chasing exhausting my will.
Value of vital energy pondered;
Could someone archaic still pay this bill?
Deprived of slumber, decisions were made;
a mortal must live no matter his year.
Ample time passes, differences fade.
Continue to whisper, soon she will hear.
Thrust myself forward to have and to hold.
Clinch Arianna so we can grow old.
