Trying to Find You

Trying to Find You

It’s not something set in stone.
It’s not a candle lighting the way.
It’s not a world of pure imagination.
It’s reality.

Where are you now?
Yesterday has waved goodbye;
It has closed its doors.
They say you’re here. I beg to differ.

I go where you go;
I know that destiny says so.
You have begged, stolen, and shared my laughter.
You are no one besides me.

The darkness hides you.
Who can I turn to?
I stay with her, for she took the notes out of your book.
The notes you never seemed to have memorized.

I asked you to return;
You left me outside to burn.
Sometimes I stand in the middle of the floor,
Not going left,
Not going right;
Just being kind.
