Trying to See Through the Rain

You look but don't see.
You like but don't want.
You touch but don't feel.
You see in black and white,
while I see gray.
You see perfection,
while I see only ruins.
You feel love,
while I feel only disappointment.
You feel proud,
while I feel only disgrace.
You have found your way,
while I'm left at the starting line.
You know right from wrong,
while I'm not sure anymore.
You and I are different
but in every way the same--
for we both look alike,
go by the same name,
and live the same life.
The only thing different about us
is what people see on the outside,
and don't want to see on the inside.
Because for most people,
that would be like trying to see through the rain.
