Tuesday’s Morn

The Earth was hot with lust for the rain
on a day like this
The sun cried down rays of warmth and light
A feast for the leaves and flowers
Now waiting for their drinks
on a day like this
The wind had gone to bed
two nights ago
on another day like this
The pavement steams
and years with desire
on one such day as this
and sweetly sang the birds that play
and squirrels that hug and kiss
On one such day
A bright Tuesday morn
on a day as gay as this
But we know to well
that the sun never lasts
on a day as glorious
as wondrous
as vast
on a day as perfect as this
