Twenty-two Years

For twenty two years you’ve walked next to me
Our dreams we have shared every day
Now that I’m sick, I’m turning to you
Something important to say

For twenty two years I’ve been your wife
Twenty two years of sharing good life
But God has called me to him I must go
Back to my family who loved me so

Back to the childhood I loved so well
To an old church a ringing its bell
Back to the pets I gave them their name
Back to my momma from where I came

My body looks forward to freedom from pain
Living in heaven my health to regain
Talking and walking, praying each day
Heaven on earth, I can’t have my way

But darlin you know that I’ll be around
Heaven is just six feet in the ground
Stop by and visit, talk for a while
Twenty two years you still make me smile

Tell me a story, or sing me a song
Twenty two years wasn’t that long
You’re still my idol, my lover, my mate
Meeting in heaven will now be our fate

I know you’re beside me now looking sad
Twenty two years don’t that make you glad
Remember my touches, my kiss, and my tears
Thank God in heaven for twenty two years
