Twice Buried

I read today about a man.
He lived life to the fullest,
But we all know it was bullshit,
Hiding behind a retirement plan.

We don't see his regret.
Only framed-in excuses,
Hung up with tight nooses,
Cut down in the end to forget.

As a child he knew no fear.
Bombed hills without a helmet,
Dreamt of Spaceships and Elvis,
Parents hoping he would never shed a tear.

Now condemned to a few lines.
We all stare at a life latent,
And share in his disappointment,
Twice buried and once alive.
