Two Heads That Lean

Get your hat and get your hands. dirty
floppy pink and purple lean two heads to weeds below.
Children working side by side with Mom and Dad
normally there is a resistance
a pouting persistence in heavy heat.
But today in the morning
90 plus at ten thirty
is time together
to get their hands dirty . dirty.
I saw them reach and pull and place
in wheelbarrow low
arching across the rusty edge
two sisters release
fingers full that smile
as weeds drop
to a parents pledge
that time is quick and work be done
to get your hat and get your hands
to sing a song together in shallow lands
this family,
this day
by eleven soon
or half past thirty
go floppy pink and purple
two heads that lean
Dirty.. Dirty.
