Type One Diabetes

I never really knew how big of a change it would be;
it was all so new to me.
With no doubt, it's hard staying on track,
but you definitely can't slack.
So many problems and complications,
it really does take some patience.
Exercise and nutrition is the key,
so only I can take care of me.
Diabetes will be there, no matter what.
It makes me go crazy, like a nut!
I can't forget to take my insulin-
oh boy, have I learned discipline.
I used to think it isn't fair,
but people really do care.
All I have left to do is pray,
Because I know it isn't going away.
Diabetes has come upon me,
and that's the way it was meant to be.
