Under a Raspberry Sky

As the sun began its exit
From another perfect day,
a raspberry sky unfolded
Slipping quietly into the bay.

It was the most amazing
These eyes could yet recall,
Like shades of ripened berries,
Mementos of late fall.

A time for peace and renewal,
With a plead to God above,
To end these senseless wars,
To teach us all, to love.

Mold us in compassion
To look into the face of another
And see him as you'd see him,
Your child, a friend, our brother.
