Loneliness is my best friend,
Yet I never invited her in,
Loneliness found me years ago,
And now she won't take no.
I've tried to have a real friend,
Yet loneliness keeps butting in,
My so called friend turns out to be a fraud,
And loneliness perceives this to be the nod,
To replace the phony as my best friend,
Yet I never invited her in
So I have learned to make do,
But secretly I would love to start anew,
To meet that real friend,
I'd gladly replace loneliness to invite in.
