Unmask Yourself

Underneath the expensive fabrics,
beneath the skin that protects our soul.
That is what drives our motives defines our roles.
Are you who you project yourself to be?
Do you believe in what others can't see?
When the night falls and you lay your body down.
Do you have regrets, actions that caused others harm.
Who are you behind closed doors;
do you find yourself needing more?
More of the things that feed the ego
please the body and neglects the soul?
Unmask yourself show me what's inside.
Let me see what it is you try so hard to hide.
Is this the life you want to live?
Do you take more than you give?
Is your life measured by what you own?
Do you share yourself, like a poet in a poem?
You can't ask more of me, if it's not the real you I see.
Unmask yourself let me in.
It's not what's on the outside, heavy or thin.
I need to see the colors of your mind,
bitter, sweet, mean or kind?
Is what I see what I get?
If I trust in what you say, will I wish you wouldn't stay?
Unmask yourself before I stray.
