Unsaid for a lifetime

In the midst of all chaos,
I saw him, the eyes I fell in love with.
Beaming with happiness, looking at me.
His smile was my drug,
His heart my wonderland.
Desire of reuniting once again
And walking to the woods together.
I closed my eyes and waited
For his arms to embrace me.
Suddenly I heard a scream,
waking me up from my dream.
He was lying there , cold and aloof.
Eyes closed, but still smiling.
The Grim has engulfed him,
As Novel Corona showed no mercy.
Sitting beside was my toddler,
Waiting to play peek-a-boo with his dad.
Gatherers spoke about his courage,
Of being a doctor, a true fighter.
And I should be proud and hopeful.
But, little did they know, for me
There was no light
At the end of the tunnel.
