Sitting alone, I watch the days go by
A love long lost tears at my weakened heart
The world moves on, I stare up at the sky
Your life and memories on me impart.

The painted scene reminds me of your eyes
Where I once saw light and got myself lost
A brilliant blue just like the cloudless skies
But I see them no more, and at what cost?

A lesson I learned that you taught me well:
Care about yourself, others come second
The fire in my soul you helped to quell
With your frozen, icy heart, I reckon.

You helped me leave by pushing me away
But your blue eyes still compel me to stay.
