Us

We were just two people.
We both were broken but we promised to help one another.
We both wanted love.
We helped one another along the way.
Then we hit a bump.
It shattered both of our hearts.
But I picked up some of yours, and you picked up some of mine.
We learned to love.
We learned to love each other,
in a manner that either one of us could deny the other.
We loved with a lover that was greater than love.
We loved with a lover that was greater than war.
We loved with a power that would fix us both.
We loved with a love that made us feel safe.
We loved with a love that gave us a home.
We loved with a love that no one could replace.
We loved with a love no one could give us.
