Used to Be

I remember when I was young and strong
Could drink and fight and stay up all night long
Now I look in the mirror and I see
that I am just a used to be
Then I look in my little black book
And see all the numbers I have took
The names go on from A to Z
I realize I am just a used to be
Now I am not so young and strong
All the names and numbers are long gone
And I don't drink and I don't fight
Does not matter if I am wrong or right
I am telling you this so you will know
No matter what you do or where you go
When you look in the mirror you will see
It's not so bad being a used to be
And that, my friend, is simply because
It's better being a used to be
Than a never was
