Used To

I used.
I used to love you in the daytime.
When everyone can see that you were mine
and that I bombarded you with affection.
When you looked prettiest and the most elegant.
When you loved me back.
I used to.
I used to love you in the daytime.
When it mattered.
When when everyone is awake and was able
to acknowledge that I was happy.
When I thought you cared.
When I wished to show you off like a new toy fresh out the box.
I used to.
I used to love you in the the daytime.
Before the darkness crept in and reality slipped into
the backdoor of my psyche and said she doesn't love you.
Before you started acting as if what we had was
non-existent and fabricated.
Before you treated me like a brother and instead of your boyfriend
Before you finally admitted that you let someone else dive
into your most sacred spaces of your body & mind.
Before I realized that you were just a complete utter waste of time.
Before I cut you off and you began to care again.
But it's too late because the sun is setting and daytime is over.
