Victim or Victor

Awakening into such endless slur
Empty shreds of my life tormented
All that casts light is but a blur
In shadows deep and darkness pure

Dead within a heart now shaken
Comes the dark night of the soul
Victim fail to a life forsaken
Captured like a prisoner taken

Endless weeping in a fetal stare
Crying out in one last hope
That light would find my life to spare
Bring victory through God's grace and care

Moving quickly with mercy's sword
Light now fills the darkened soul
Cutting loose this victim's cord
Finding victory in God's spoken word
