Vortex of a storm

Vortex of the storm

I remember standing on the beach with my brother and father.
The island had evacuated but we stayed.
The hurricane met us.
We couldn’t stand up with out holding on to each other.
Our words couldn’t be heard due to the howling of the wind.
The eye arrived
an incredible moment of peace in the cacophony of the storm.
Our arms supported each other.
Our respect for the power fortified us.
In awe we survived.
Another hurricane is hanging over the earth.
Some might evacuate.
Others will stand holding on to each other.
No words necessary.
May our respect for nature fortify us.
May our humanism be the eye of the storm.
May we survive in awe.
Amen
