Like pebbles waited on the shore for tide,
So I awaited you, my only sea,
And dreamed of us where sweeping waves abide
Without a drop of doubt in destiny.
So breathlessly I left behind the strand
To wade into your beckoning embrace,
So soothing like the sea! Forgetting land,
I saw the sunset in your shining face.
Too soon, we found the deeper ocean's brink
Where stormy tides began to tear apart
The love we shared and left me with no link
To shores of home to heal my shattered heart.
No shelter now beneath the cliffs where I
Once lived protected from a blue goodbye.
