Waiting

Skin as pale as the moon,
Lips as bright as a rose,
Hair as dark as ebony;
You're my one and only, you know.
Weeks go by, and I hear you not,
For you are far away from me,
But the day shall come, my dearest love,
When together we shall be.
The wait is tiresome,
But I hold hope in my heart,
That when one day we are wed,
We will never again be apart.
Until then, my darling intended,
Sit back and wait for me;
Let never your heart stray,
And I shall forever keep the key.
