Wake Me Up, Please!!!

By

She lay dreaming of a day when it would all go away!
The strife and sorrows of an unknown tomorrow.
She thought about the muffled voices behind silencing
masks subdued exchanges leaving only a glance. Yet, it
was the eyes, the deep penetrating eyes of each she
passed haunting the recesses of her mind. It was the
empty loneliness, the ebony black sadness, the tangled
confusion, searching for a time left behind.

Awakening to a new dawn with the sun's golden light
illuminating all, she walked to the door slowly opening
for a peek, hoping for release from her nightmarish
dream, a dream with no end, a dream she wished to
rescind, only to find eyes, searching sad eyes peering
over masks yearning for the past. She drew in a breath
a breath of surrender, a teardrop of despair escaping
onto the floor as she slowly closed the door to a
world she did not know.
