Walk Away

Life works in mysterious ways
As we come to our end as high school students
We become overwhelmed with the future
What college will I attend?
What career will I pursue?
Where will I end up living?
All these questions rummaging through our heads
We act brave
Like we have it all figured out
Adults know better than that
They see our fear upon our faces
As we fill in our applications
They notice our stress eating us alive
They know we need them as our guide
Failing to see our immaturity
Acting as if we know everything
Nervous to admit the things we do not know
Wondering where we all will go
Graduation right around the corner
Life is an open door
Scared to see what happens next
This is it
Four years gone by so fast
All of us thought they would last
Now goodbye is near
We tip our caps
And face our fears
The future is here
