Walk The Distance

From home at bay to far away
The place I’ll go in early days
Every step will bring me close
A mighty pep, a lovely rose
Foot by foot, pressing concrete
Past the soot, stones and defeat
Past the men who served in blood
Past the women, drenched in mud
From home at bay to far away
Soon I’ll have the right of way
Roads that cross, hills that steep
Feet unlost, mind too deep
I make my way, I reach my place
Within the day, I won my race
From far away to home at bay
I’ll start it again another day
