Walking in the Fog

Once while I was walking
As I am want to do
A bank of fog descended
Obscuring forward view

Until that time my steps had been
As sure as sure could be
But then each move was filled with doubt
And veiled uncertainty

But stubborn is as stubborn does
And slowly pressed ahead
Inch by inch I traveled
Unknown the pathway lead

How long I traveled thusly
It’s hard for me to say
For time is stopped as well as sight
When fog obscures the way

But fog can’t last forever
It lifts eventually
And gives one distance judgment
When you again can see

The moral of my story
If fog becomes your trial -
When I thought I’d traveled feet
The distance had been miles.
