Walking through the unknown

Keep your social distance,
another catchy phrase,
We’ve all turned into mimes,
inside our masks all day,

I hold my breath as I pass,
not taking a chance,
Avoid the dangerous oxygen,
as we continue the dance,

Walking into the stores,
remember to grab your masks,
Our new normal becomes mandatory,
necessary to complete tasks,

Haven't touched my Dad in months,
living facilities are locked down,
Human contact is vital,
praying he stays around,

2020 has been tough,
I long for a new year,
Where life can resume normalcy,
without millions of rules to adhere.
