Wanderlust

I want to run away
Away from this tiny desert town
Away from the predictability
Away from the stagnant water
I want to shave my head in Missouri
Get drunk in Pennsylvania
Sleep under the stars in Alaska
I want to feel the ocean in Italy
Read poetry in France
And talk for hours with strangers in Ethiopia
I want to feel the sun on my skin
And the rain too
I want to be free of the fear
The constraints
The expectations
I want to test my will against the world
And see what it gives me
I'm scared of wandering
But I'm even more scared of standing still
I want to feel the world
And know all that it has to offer
I want to be happy
