War

War
Battle
A fight I cannot win
This war that rages on inside of me
Leaving death filled air and destruction in its path
While casualties of heart lay wounded
Pleas for mercy echoing in the distance
Battle cries of soldiers left whispering in the wind
The sound of violent silence bellowing in the night sky
The resounding claps of the weapons
Shattering blood and bone
Through tear filled eyes you search for safety
For shelter from the fight
For a place to close your eyes and dream
Of a war settled and won
For a home and a battled past
With strength risen from the ashes
This is what I wish for as I long to rest my heart
From this war that rages inside me
The battle of how to survive the loss of you
A Destruction left behind by the missing of you from me
If you are gone...
It is a battle to breathe
It is a fight to survive
It is a war to let you go
