War in Our Hearts

You pray to your gods
And the silence is deafening
And they will find bite marks on your tongue
From the things you never said
You smile with all
The rage in your mind
Like a house burning down in the rain
Crawling voices, shattered mirrors
Screaming all you ever asked for was peace
You're bleeding through bandages
It's staining your clothes and sheets
And they cry for you at home but they smile in your face
They give you their word
For that's all they have
But what do you say to one who bleeds and cannot die?
Broken frames and painful memories
Screaming all you ever wanted was peace
Aching heart, it feels like war
Screaming all you ever asked for was peace
