Warm Laundry

He was warm laundry.
He was the feeling of cold air in your lungs.
He was lipstick stains on a coffee mug.

I slowly became someone who thought in cliches.
I started dreaming in colors I didn't know existed.
I had claimed I was afraid of commitment until we met.

I realized that up until this point
I was terrified that I would commit
To someone who wasn't him.
