Was I Enough?

Perfume stains the air as your voice
Slowly traces their words upon ears;
A delicate bouquet of longing and
Suffering suffocates the senses.
Oh! In what world would I
Have been precious enough
To acquire the taste of your lips?

The soft hues of red and flesh
Flash as smiles and laughs
Linger on into the abyss
That once was, a hellish memory
Wrought with lust and torment.

Your face from years ago
Forever haunts my pursuit
For a wholesome new beginning
Filled with the tender devotion
And commitment to love,
Unconditionally.
