Was I ?

By Calypso    Calypso

Was I an Emily
Staying within my boundaries
Never venturing beyond
My own backyard,
But traveling further
Than most?

Was I a poet
Pursuing words
Like the bell
That rang twenty-nine times,
For each man
On The Edmund Fitzgerald?

Am I a poet
That watches the dark night
Drink many minds
To emptiness?

This Poems Story

I am trying to capture the pain the wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald caused and the fact that poets don't have to be present to immortalize an event, such as how Emily Dickinson did.
