Washing My Tears Away
Oh! What I do to cross the oceans and seas.
To find peace in the earth and the heavens above,
From sea to shining sea.
The horizons lifting me up, warming me with its touch.
But beyond all that, my tears are running away.
Drying in the air that's everywhere.
Making me happy to be free.
I'll stand on the water if I can.
The ocean's currents humming beautifully in the soft wind.
I'll stand on the balcony looking out.
My clothes flapping behind me.
But up comes a storm,
Covering the autumn skies,
And keeping me from the ocean below it.
It rains back the tears that I sent away.
Washing my tears away came to haunt me and stay.
