Watch Myself Fall Asleep

I held myself in my arms today
and watched myself comfortably lay,
in the strength of me, in the warmth of us,
I basked in the unconditional loving trust.
We didn't say much as we sat in comfort together,
just sat and cherished a moment of forever.
I wished to speak words of a meaningful nature
to guide the path of this pathless creature,
but then I spoke words before my mouth even knew,
the most meaningful message: "I love you."
The words didn't bring tears or calm any fears
but they were definite music to our ears.
So once again I thank the Shepherd of sheep
"Thank you for letting me watch myself fall asleep."
