Watching, Just Watching
We gather around the television,
The curtains open, the lights on low.
It's midday, mucky weather outside.
But we sit here anyway, in the somewhat chilly room.
Television on, check.
Surround sound on, check.
And before the news can play, DVD player on, check.
The news is dreary, depressing, simply sad.
Click it off before it can dampen the mood.
Criminal Minds? Jurassic Park? Big Hero 6?
Pick, someone pick.
This is our family time.
We connect with our favorite shows.
Who can blame us in a world of today,
For sitting here and watching the time away.
