We Are

We Are
By Evorn Davis

We are not perfect
We are perfectly imperfect
By we I mean people

There was once a time when you felt you were better than me
There was once a time when you were above me
Did you forget

We are this great country
Blinded by our egos and prejudice
We praise our flag
While other burn it.

Get out of our country
African american
Mexican
Muslim

My blood bleed red
Like Sara who sits next to me
But i'm am but a minority

All are welcome you say
But we build walls to keep you out
Childish leader like the ones before him
Did you they do anything stop it.

We wore chains around our necks and hands
Barely made a dime to feed our families
Punished for racist crimes
Firing bullets into innocent hearts

I bleed red
So do you
There was once a time when you thought you were superior
But i am but a minority

We are not perfect ‘
We are perfectly imperfect
By we i mean people
