We Were Twelve

We were twelve when the world ended,
Before the world deserted its children:
Scarlet skies,
Youth shot in a line,
Bloodied hands and bloodshot eyes
We were twelve when the world ended,
Before the world turned its back against us:
Morality left behind
How could the world be so cruel
To leave its young ones so blind
Of the terrors
That lie in wait behind dark blinds?
