The weariness of missing you
Has seeped into my bones.
Every pump of blood through
My veins pushes the IV fed
Sadness deeper into the
Center of my entire being.
I wonder when I’ll wake
Feeling rested and whole;
Like my bones are strong again—
I shed my clothes.
I shed my smile.
I shed anything to feel light—
I’d tear my skin from muscle
Muscle from bone—
Till there was nothing left—
If it meant I’d be free
Of the loneliness you stuck in me.
The needle unable to move
Until you pull it from my skin.
I’m waiting. And the weariness
Has seeped into my soul.
