Weathering Time

In the weather of time, a storm approaches
Deep within its prime; on all it encroaches
I see it inch closer with years spent like dimes
Months scurry away like frightened little roaches

Of what the storm has willed, I assume it was necessary
Forgotten dreams spilled, all momentary
The essence of time's rain drenches the fleeing world
Its heart beats to the tone of the temporary

My own heart will breach as it beats in the storm's tear
On this lonely beach, I see it pouring clearly here
No one else visits when these dark clouds outreach
Few would want to see the end of all they hold dear

My heart suffers desire, but for another reason
Hoping I've set a fire; one in your heart's region
Shall you join me at the beach, you who I admire?
Then we shall together walk into the stormy season
Together we expire
