WEDDING MORNING

Poem
For thirty years had she waited
to receive this banquet like unto a queen
dreaming of water poured at her feet
Herself had she kept untouched
for that one man
who would be her first and last

As gold had she kept it
like diamond she had valued it
like a throne awaiting the king with a crown
vowed to preserve it till that night
that night after the banquet
Unveiling the ancient treasure

From far abroad had she come
to a home away from home
to be at love with that man
Dressed as a bride
Oh! why the bandits on the way
Wedding morning was she raped.
