Weighted

Everyone always uses the phrase
"A weight off my chest"

Why? Why say that
When the weight in on the inside

A block of lead
Where my heart should be

They say
"A burden on your shoulders"

When they should say
"A burden in your heart"

Weighing you down
Until you give up

I try to ignore the weight
These pounds dragging me down

To the bottom of the sea
Never to be found

The thing about weight though
The more you can lift

The stronger you become
It is a challenge though

One that I will gladly
Take on
