We’ll Meet Again

You’re a single red dot in an endless sea of blue
It was when we first touched that I knew
Soft eyes searching for reconciliation
It’s with only you that I feel done chasing
Ears open to every word I have to utter
Holding you against me makes my heart stutter
Seeing you has become a distraction
You’ve become my new passion
A subtle lust morphed into love
Or at least the temporary of the sorts
By the end of our shared tenure
We will ultimately surrender
The gift of time takes our love for granted
We could say we were enchanted
Wandering aimlessly now I’m stranded
Time has left me empty handed
But wasn’t it just then
As we held each other before heaven
Reminding ourselves over and over for closure:
We’ll meet again
