What Happens in the Lost and Found?

A green teddy bear lays on top of the pile,
along with a lunchbox and a set of keys,
both sparkling in the sun.
These things will be gone within a week;
their rightful owners just a little happier.

Under the new things lie the dull ones.
A mound of seams that could’ve been a jacket.
The pages of a textbook scattered here and there.
We haven’t hit the bottom yet.

Under the shine and the dull is nothingness.
No one goes down there.
