What Happens When You’re Vulnerable

You’re a knife fight in my veins
Your weapons at the ready
While my defenses were low
Because I was high
On you
I don’t know how
You got inside of me
But somehow you did
And now each slashing word
Every serrated silence
Shoots daggers
Slicing me from the inside out
Severing heart strings
And nerve endings alike
Until I can’t feel a thing
Not even numb
So I fall
But not the way I did before
Though I blame both times
On weakness
On you
