What Is It That You’ve Got for Me

You plucked the threads in my aching back
Brought me to a half-stand
Wouldn't leave 'til I caught my stride:
By eye I was nearly man again. Then

You found where all my thoughts had slipped
Down some murky hole beside the lane
Bore with me 'til my eyes uncrossed;
I could count to ten again. and then

You found my home for me at last
Out there beyond the shanty flats
(I had lost my scribbled notes that night)
Stood by my side 'til the bed was made
I can recline I'll be alright.

You brought me here so
Here I am, so
Let me see:
What is it that
You've got for me?
