What Is Strength?

Sometimes strength isn't fighting
But instead quietly taking
All the abuse
And the beating
But never falling, always standing
Never giving them control
Always rising, though I know
They will push and shove and kick
Because I refuse to let them win
I will not stay upon the ground
Crippled by pain, I will not drown
Never fearing, looking straight
In their eyes, I see the rage
Of me standing, not submitting
Never giving them the victory
For I will rise until I can't
And even then I will not flinch
Clenching teeth through all the pain
They cannot take my dignity
This is truly
Inner strength
