What New Becomes of Friends

A funny thing about life, that falls upon us all
Are moments that find us lost in the wonder of awe
Experience changes us, for better and for worse
It alters our very being. be it blessing, be it curse
Yet it is these grand adventures and tragedies
That lead us to moments such as these
Where life opens new doors and provides a new view
Could you have found in me, all that I have found in you
You ask why I didn't open my heart sooner, why I didn't see
You think to just how different both our lives could be
While there is truth to your logic, life happens when you least expect it
We don't always get the things we want, or when we think we want it
But in the moment where we are awakened to see things in a different light
There is a certain magic in watching memories both old and new take flight
Strangely, everything reveals in ways so much more than we had ever dreamt
Perhaps the madness and laughter endured make for what we're meant
We begin to take notice to the details with a delicate new embrace
We absorb the lingering of enlightened and heightened senses, as if we've never had a taste
With every word spoken the brokenness of past begins to mend
With every effort, we become ironically captured by the freedom of what became of friends
