What Surprise!

What a Surprise!
By Maridrian Bell

2020 has been indeed a year of 2020 vision
No glasses needed to see what lies beneath
Our pains amplified our loneliness magnified
even introverts long to go out and converse

Purposes and voices are being found,
Self and personality jailed because of the new norms
leaving no outlet for individual expressions – laughter fades

We tell ourselves, I should have socialized more, made more of my day and freedom we took for granted, just fading away.

We tell ourselves, never will I take anything for granted anymore as we lie to ourselves.

Alias! Winter is here again, a sign of hope and a prayer for a restart and new year

A hope to see smiles returning on our faces again as we greet each other with happy tears.
